Alternative Motive for War?

Prompt: http://litmuse.net/prompt_mailer

In the book, Mailer made a point that obtaining control over oil in Iraq was once motive for the war. I strongly agree with Mailer in this sense; however, I feel that the oil is the only reason why we are still at war today.

The attacks of 9/11 were horrible events that we will continue to remember throughout history. These events were in fact used as an opportunity to gain control by President Bush.

Of course, he was obligated to protect our country so action had to be taken in Iraq. Over time, the war became less and less about capturing Osama bin Laden and more and more about bringing down Sadaam Hussien. Was he following in his father's footsteps?

Several video messages from Bin Laden have been released since the attacks on 9/11. What I question is whether there was a connection between the media and Bin Laden. Several U. S. troops have been deployed in Iraq. Many of these men have died and not returned.

During the first year, we heard about several attempts to locate Bin Laden. None of these attempts were successful. I feel as though Bush gave up hope of locating Bin Laden and focused on obtaining other resources such as the oil. With the troops already station in Iraq, no one would question Bush's tactics.

Gas prices rose tremendously since our troops have been in Iraq. Obtaining oil would make us one step closier to obtaining the empire that President Bush was after. Iraq may have a sense that the U. S. has a alternative motive for the war.

Soliders are dying daily over this nonsense. Bush, in my opinion, should pull the soliders out of Iraq. This would not show a sign of weakness of a president, but show the strength of a good leader. How long will last is a question that many of us face today. No one really knows. What we do know is that somethings are just not worth fighting for.

pass. As the years pass by, more and more Americans are realizing that the war is not about terrorism. There is not much oil left on the planet and the US consumes so much.
